Agility Robotics, the creator of the market-leading bipedal Mobile Manipulation Robot (MMR) Digit, has announced several key leadership appointments that signal the company's strategic focus on productization, commercialization, and growth.
The most notable changes are:
Daniel Diez Appointed as Chief Strategy Officer
As the new Chief Strategy Officer, Daniel Diez will be responsible for setting Agility's overall business and go-to-market strategy, working closely with CEO Peggy Johnson. In this role, he will also lead all marketing, product marketing, and communications efforts to build the company's reputation and grow awareness and demand for Digit as it enters its next phase of rapid commercial growth. Diez brings an outstanding track record of leading business transformation and corporate strategy, having previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at Magic Leap.
Melonee Wise Promoted to Chief Product Officer
Melonee Wise, who joined Agility as CTO in May 2023, has been promoted to the role of Chief Product Officer. In this expanded role, Wise will continue to lead Agility's engineering team in addition to the newly-formed product organization. Since joining the company, Wise has transformed the way Agility approaches product development as it prepares to bring its products to market at scale. She has a deep history in developing autonomous robots and advancing the robotics industry, having previously served as CEO of Fetch Robotics and VP of Robotics Automation at Zebra Technologies.
Pras Velagapudi Appointed as Chief Technology Officer
Pras Velagapudi has been appointed as Agility's new Chief Technology Officer. In the year since he joined the company, Velagapudi has galvanized Agility's technology efforts and played a key role in the development of the company's products. Velagapudi has a wealth of experience in industrial automation, robotic manipulation, and multi-robot systems, having previously held roles at Berkshire Grey and Carnegie Mellon University.
These strategic leadership appointments come at a critical time for Agility Robotics as it prepares to scale its business and capitalize on the growing demand for its Digit robot. With Diez's expertise in business transformation and commercialization, Wise's deep technical and product experience, and Velagapudi's strong background in robotics technology, Agility is well-positioned to accelerate its growth and solidify its position as a leader in the humanoid robotics market.
"As the only company with a humanoid robot already delivering useful work to customers, Agility is shaping the future of labor. Today we're strengthening our exceptional leadership team to jump on this massive market opportunity," said Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics. "Daniel, Melonee, and Pras bring unparalleled experience and expertise that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of rapid commercial growth."
