Japan has introduced a new giant humanoid robot to maintain its railway lines, developed to address labor shortages in infrastructure maintenance. The robot, designed by West Japan Railways (West JR) in collaboration with Jinki Ittai Co. and Nippon Signal Co., can handle heavy machinery and perform tasks at heights up to 12 meters.
This innovative robot, carried by a railway construction vehicle, is equipped with an extendable boom that allows it to reach and repair overhead electrical wires. The system is controlled remotely, ensuring both efficiency and safety in maintaining railway infrastructure.
This development comes as part of Japan's broader efforts to integrate advanced robotics into various sectors to mitigate labor shortages and improve operational efficiency.
